How to Unlock Cabinet Locks
11/13/2015 Back To BlogIt's kind of funny to install magnetic cabinet locks at home to protect your children and lose the magnetic key. It happens though, and that's why it's wise on your part to have alternative solutions or deal with the consequences. What will the alternative solution be? Simply, a spare magnetic key! If you hide keys well enough so that your kids will have no way of getting access to the cabinet door locks, at least make a small note of where the key is hidden and keep hiding it in the same place. Just don't lose the note, too. Then, it will simply be an endless game leading nowhere but finding lots of keys and notes when you move out.
Little tricks that might open your cabinets
The question is what you do when the kitchen cabinet cannot be opened or you can't find the keys of the file cabinet locks. From documents to medicine, what you usually hide at locked furniture has some kind of meaning in your life. If you can't have access to them, you are simply out of luck or almost out of luck. As far as many file cabinets are concerned, plenty of them have an emergency access kind of button at the bottom part of the furniture. If you want to check your file cabinet door lockset, you will have to tilt the furnitureso that you can have access to the front side of the bottom part. At one side of the cabinet, you should feel (or see) a hole. If you consider that most file cabinets lock by rotating the cylinder to press the rod downwards, the only thing you want to do now is press the rod upwards. By putting your finger in the hole, you will feel the rod resisting your pressure. Put some pressure to lift it up and open the drawers of the file cabinet.
If we are talking about cabinets at home, it will depend on the locks installed. If you can't find the magnetic key, try your luck with another magnet. If you have sliding locks, see if you can pass them through the knobs or handles. If one of the knobs or handles is loose, see if you can remove it. Such moves will give you access to your cabinet. If nothing works, you might have to break the lock. In this case, lock replacement is unavoidable – but at the very least, you will get access to the cabinet's content.
